As CEO Mike grew a small wholesale business to become the North American market leader with $1 billion in sales. Previously he became known for consistently increasing returns from numerous smaller businesses, frequently overcoming challenging business circumstances. He has been recognized as President of the Year for a large multi-divisional corporation.
Mike is an expert in identifying and developing competitive advantages that improve sales and margins. In a $50 million manufacturing business, he developed product quality reforms leading to $10 million in additional sales. In several manufacturing businesses with sales ranging from $10 million to $40 million and losing money, he created market share growth, improved margins, and double digit returns. His operational focus was instrumental in the refinancing of a bankrupt start-up and the recovery of a pending business break-up, both by driving significant increases in profitability.
Mike has led many successful transactions including multi-million dollar acquisitions and divestitures and the development of two large new greenfield businesses for a Canadian corporation. He regularly works with senior management and boards on strategic focus, financial restructuring and operations resulting in improved margins and ROIs.
Mike has a B. Comm. from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, Ivey Business School.
