Birmingham, Alabama 07 January 2014 – Kirchner Group today announced that Steve Dauphin, a member of the Kirchner Agricultural Partners (KAP) and Food Security Group (FSG), was appointed to the Hunger Solutions Institute (HSI) Board of Advisors.  As an advisor to HIS, Steve will continue his work related to the challenge of feeding the world’s expanding population from a fixed base of land and water resources. KAP and FSG are subsidiaries of the Kirchner Group.

The Hunger Solutions Institute (HSI) seeks to discover, evaluate, and share knowledge and best practices in the fight against hunger domestically and globally. Established in 2012 in conjunction with the College of Human Sciences and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station at Auburn University, the HSI builds upon a decade of Auburn’s leadership in mobilizing Universities Fighting World Hunger, a grassroots network of almost 300 universities worldwide.

“We are very proud to announce Steve has been added to the Hunger Solutions Institute Board of Advisors,” said W.B. (Bud) Kirchner, Founder and CEO of Kirchner Group. “For several years Steve has been a thought leader on needed capital market innovations related to global food security challenge.  We are pleased to see that others are recognizing his contributions and commitment.”

The Board of Advisors for the Hunger Solutions Institute will support and advance the mission of the HSI as well as provide strategic advice on and leadership for the activities of the Institute. The Board will also be expected to identify opportunities, and emerging challenges for the Institute based on current trends and issues, and enhance the public image of the Hunger Solutions Institute.

“It is an honor to be working with HSI.” Steve Dauphin stated “HSI, and other dedicated groups like HSI, can be real difference makers in this effort as we all strive to find needed solutions.  I look forward to working closely with the HSI and the other Board members.”

The inaugural meeting of the Board was held on December 9th in NYC.  Other board members include:  Chair, Alastair Summerlee, President of the University of Guelph; Josette Sheeran, President and CEO of the Asia Society and former Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme; Nicholas Haan, Director of Global Grand Challenges and Team Project Leader at Singularity University; Roger Thurow, Senior Fellow on Global Agriculture and Food Policy at the Chicago Council and author of “Enough: Why the World’s Poorest Starve in an Age of Plenty”; and Dr. June Henton, Dean of the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University and Executive Director of the Hunger Solutions Institute.
